August is hot and we are ready for a beer. Maybe even a beer in a can. Yeah, I know you probably tend to think that ‘good’ beer only comes in bottles and growlers, but yesterday at Trophy we watched an amazing process; a crazy-sophisticated can-making machine that they are using to CAN Trophy beers. It was super cool to watch how they fill and pressurize the cans, and put the swanky labels on. This is a big step for Trophy; they’ve never had their beer in cans before. Tonight they are celebrating the canning, but this weekend you’ll be able to pick up an actual 6-pack or 4-pack of Trophy beers, nice and cold for taking to the pool or the beach.
You know what’s even better than beer on a hot day? Clean water. No joke, here in Raleigh we have access to clean water at our kitchen taps. In some places a lack of access to water is not a joke. The folks at Global H2O work hard to put solar-powered wells in rural villages. This water-access group was started right here in Raleigh and they’ll be joining us on Saturday to help raise awareness for the issue of water access. Stop by their tent, located right by the brewery entrance, and get a bottle of water and a head full of information. Read more about Global H2O right here.
This month we’ll welcome back some of our old favorites and we have some new artists and vendors for you that will knock your socks off. That is, if you were wearing socks which we are guessing you are NOT. Seriously, who wears socks in this weather?
To eat on Saturday you’ll find the delicious Two Rooster’s Ice Cream and the fine folks from Wandering Moose will take care of lunch. We’ll also have delicious gluten-free vegan brownies and pop corn at the Pop-Up tent.
Want to know who else is coming this Saturday? Check out the photo grid below for a few of our vendors. For super-duper updates and more images and details, follow us on Facebook or Instagram.
just some of the fun we’ll have on Saturday:
Paul Freidrich, one of our favorite artists here at Pop-Up, is part of a cool thing happening at the NCMA on Friday, August 26th. For three hours, 60 artists will be on stage drawing. It’s called the Monster Drawing Rally and it’s an amazing way to see how some of your favorite artists work and create. We can’t wait to attend this, get the details here.
Paul will be at the market this Saturday, too, so you can get event details from him there, too! |

Deco Raleigh, our favorite Raleigh gift store, is expanding their home offerings this September. They’ll be moving into a space just two doors down from their current location, adding more furnishings and housewares. As we never have enough crazy kitchen gear here at Pop-Up Central, and we get most of that stuff at Deco already, we are super excited. You should follow the Deco folks on Facebook to learn more about what they have going on.
Remember, Deco is also one of the originators of the Flight Fund (we wrote about it here) and the fund has an AMAZING new project you should check out with artist Lincoln Hancock. Read the details out right here. We love this project so much… |
